About Me
Hi, I’m Melodi. I’ve always loved to travel. I think my travel empowerment came when I was 19, and lived in a small city of a million in Wuxi, China, teaching English. I ended up being the unofficial tour planner for our weekends and holiday breaks. I made the plans, and my friends followed along. Back then, all I had was a travel book, translated index cards I made up, hand motions, and courage. Since then I have traveled the world with my husband and children. My rule of thumb was after each baby was one, my husband and I went away! Then we were done having children, but we kept up the travel.
How I Travel
When I travel, I want to be wowed by nature, architecture, animals, and culture. Hiking to a waterfall is so rewarding. Exploring old cobblestone streets with buildings next to me build in the 1600’s takes my breath away. Watching a cheetah chase a gazelle is powerful! Taking a cooking class in the middle of rice fields is the perfect ambiance. I love it all. I try really hard to avoid crowds, see as much as I can while I’m in the area, and find things that aren’t on the normal tour circuit.
